This 1:48 scale kit depicts the late-model P-38J Lightning, an advanced twin-boom U.S. fighter developed for speed, firepower, and long range. Introduced in 1943, the J variant resolved earlier cooling limitations by relocating intercoolers below the engines, enabling full 1,425hp output at high altitude. The freed-up wing space was used for auxiliary fuel tanks, enhancing range. Based on thorough study of real aircraft, this kit captures key features such as engine nacelle intercoolers, flat front canopy glass, and late-model airframe updates. Includes detailed air ducting, integrated wing spar and gear bay for strength and precision, and a highly detailed cockpit with Lynn-3 sight and unique yoke.
