This 1/48 scale plastic model assembly kit depicts the iconic Grumman F-14A Tomcat, a carrier-based multirole fighter known for its distinctive variable-sweep wing and powerful long-range interception capabilities. Entering service with the U.S. Navy in 1973, the F-14A saw combat in operations from Vietnam to the Middle East and was notable for its AN/AWG-9 radar and AIM-54 Phoenix missile integration. Of the 632 Tomcats delivered to the Navy, 477 were F-14A variants, while 79 were exported to Iran before 1979, with some still in service today. The model accurately captures the aircraft’s complex form with features such as movable wings, interchangeable parts for swept and extended wing configurations, polycapped horizontal stabilizers, detailed cockpit and intakes, and optional open or closed afterburner nozzles. Additional parts include deployable fuel probe and boarding ladder. Decals are provided for two U.S. Navy aircraft and one from the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force. Finished model length: 398 mm; maximum wingspan: 408 mm. Glue and paint not included.
