This 1:20 scale plastic model assembly kit faithfully recreates the 1978 Lotus Type 79 “Black Beauty,” the revolutionary ground-effect Formula 1 car that dominated the season. The finished model measures 220 mm in length and 108 mm in width. The sleek, low-profile monocoque and wide side-pontoon undersurfaces are authentically captured, and both front and rear cowlings remain removable after assembly to display the detailed cockpit, engine, and suspension. Behind the cockpit sit the relocated fuel tanks, and the rear suspension’s inboard dampers are accurately rendered. Metal covers adorn the air funnels for enhanced realism, and rubber tires complete the taut silhouette. Two decal sheets allow you to build either Mario Andretti’s No. 5 car or Ronnie Peterson’s No. 6 machine as raced at the British or German Grands Prix. Paint and cement required (not included).
